Composer's Spotlight: Matteo da Perugia

Description

The music of Matteo da Perugia belongs to the short-lived flowering of a beautiful late medieval genre known today as “ars subtilior”. His music is preserved in Modena A and other sources, and contains both secular and sacred compositions. Matteo da Perugia was the first magister capellae at the Milan Cathedral from 1402-1407, and one of his patrons was the antipope Alexander V. Prerequisites: The Wednesdays series is geared towards experienced readers of early notation, who have at the minimum completed my two introductory series, or possess equivalent knowledge.
